I've engaged in girly activities.
Dun dun dun!!!!!
But what might those girly activities be? Well I came across a forum. A forum about engagement rings. And I read it. Everyone knew exactly what they wanted and there I was confused as to what a princess cut was! I decided to rectify the situation. I now know what a princess cut is! And I know the difference between an engagement ring and a wedding band :) In my journey towards knowledge I found some rings that I do like.
But first of all what specific things do I like in a ring?
1. I like white gold because it goes with everything. But I LOVE rose gold because it seems so much more unique and in my opinion makes it seem more antique. The picture below shows yellow, white, and rose gold.
2. I like engagement rings that come with a matching wedding band and interlock together. Like they're two pieces of a puzzle and just fit. Like this one.
I really don't like ones like this, where they seem mismatched:
3. I like more curved rings as opposed to pointy. I like it when it just looks softer, and almost wavy (if that makes any sense?). I really like the way the band curves around the stone in the picture of the interlocking rings.
4. I don't want the main stone to be set really high (where it comes up high from the ring) because I feel like it would snag on everything.
5. I'm not really a fan of coloured stones as the main stone so clear or white would be great :) But I also think colour as an accent would work. I love blue but I wouldn't want sapphire accents. I'd like aquamarine because it's a more muted blue and is more subtle.
6. Unique :) Something that stands out and is unique to me.
7. Not outrageously expensive!
Now then!
While I was looking up all of this I looked at http://www.etsy.com/browse/feed/jewelry/rings under the "Antique Engagement" and "Handmade Engagement" sections. If you want a unique one of a kind ring, look here! The rings are gorgeous and a lot are fairly inexpensive. These are some of the ones I like:
I like this ring because of the detail and the band is doing the softer wavy thing that I adore. I'm not sure whether I would like this better in white gold (above) or rose gold. If the stone were set lower into the ring it would be perfect :)
I like this ring because of the double band and the rose gold but I find that there's just too many stones and it seems over the top to me.
I like this ring because of the simplicity. I would love this in rose gold! I love that the main stone isn't set too high from the band :) This definitely seems like the type of ring you almost have to have engraved because it's so simple. I like it a lot, but it does seem more like a wedding band than an engagement ring.
This ring is very similar to the first one with exception of the flowers having 5 petals here. However in this one I find that the stones on the side of the band are too much. That may just be because of the contrast with the rose gold though. In the first picture the stones and metal seem to almost blend together because of the colour similarities whereas here they stand out. I love this ring for the details and softness but to make it perfect I would take off (at least) the bottom three stones on the band. The greater amount of petals also seem to make the diamond seem to be set lower.
And that's what I've been obsessing over! If a guy ever wants to propose to me I'll make sure Pickle sends them here :) they'll know what I want without even having to ask! I'm trying not to make up my mind on a specific ring (even though the last one is my favourite) so I won't be let down to get a different one. I'm trying to just like general ideas right now (I'm not sure it's working).
Have you guys ever had an embarrassing obsession? Does anyone want to share? Does anyone want to talk about their dream engagement ring (it's okay to be completely unrealistic!)? Does anyone want to talk about having to buy an engagement ring? Anyone have any questions in general? Or did I learn all about this for nothing? :P Comments appreciated guys! :)
