So this morning I got THREE calls from the hospital. I had to book a carotid ultrasound, another ECG (electrocardiogram), and I have to go to a stroke prevention clinic on Thursday.
I have no idea why the extra testing is being done, I don't even know who ordered it.
So tonight I had a carotid ultrasound, which is an ultrasound of the carotid arteries on your neck. I have no idea if anything was wrong with it because the technician didn't tell me anything.
At 7:15 tomorrow morning I have another ECG, which is where they stick about 10 sticky things on your body (mostly your chest) and monitor your heart. I don't know why they have to redo this test because no one is telling me anything.
I'm guessing that I actually find out what's going on when I have my stroke prevention clinic on Thursday, as I had to have all my testing done before then.
I'm thinking that they either found something abnormal in my previous tests OR they still have no idea what it is so they ordered more testing. Regardless it's terrifying! :(
And my ultrasound technician was kind of an ass. Other than not telling me anything he kept jamming his ultrasound thing really hard into my jaw. NEWSFLASH! My jaw is made of bone! You cannot push through it!

Hospital :(
Well today guess where I had to go?
If you guessed Oprah's house you would be incorrect!
I spent three hours in the ER today. So just in advance, this will not be a very funny post. I am experiencing some significant medical problems.
GIRLS!!! If you take birth control I recommend you keep reading!
Friday night while I was out curling I had sudden double vision that lasted for about two minutes. And I could see fine with one eye closed, so I think my brain was actually unable to match the two different images from my eyes.
I felt extremely dizzy, had numbness in my fingertips of my left hand and had difficulty moving my left arm.
What does that sound like to you?
A stroke.
However! Those symptoms went away with half an hour with the exception of the dizziness and I got a headache.
So what's a stroke that goes away? A mini stroke. A mini stroke is different in that the blood clot (or whatever's blocking blood flow to part of your brain) stops blocking blood flow before the brain cells die. So symptoms of a mini stroke have to go away within 24 hours or it is a stroke.
Until the symptoms go away, you are considered to be having a stroke.
So Saturday I went to the emergency room. After hearing what happened the doctor said the most likely cause was a mini stroke, but he doubted it because I'm only 18.
He performed a brain test, ordered a blood test, an ECG (the heart thing with all the wires and the things stuck to you), and a CAT scan.
All of the tests (minus blood since that hasn't been finished) showed up normal. So the doctor had no explanation for what had happened to me.
He was still concerned about it being a mini stroke though because if it was mild enough it wouldn't have shown up on the CAT scan.
He recommended that I see a neurologist (and this is where it gets interesting girls) and TO STOP TAKING MY BIRTH CONTROL.
Remember that girls? Estrogen (which is in birth control) seriously increases your risk of blood clots. I didn't remember that until he said to stop taking it.
So I don't even know for sure what it was, but it was terrifying.
In the future I will go to the hospital immediately after experiencing symptoms as opposed to waiting a day. And that's for any medical emergencies!

First Snow :)
So this is the view from my room today! Yesterday there was no snow at all! It's amazing how much everything changed overnight! :)
These are some of the pictures I took today!
This is Lake Tamblyn. It's frozen solid except for a hole in the middle. Apparently it's for the minks considering I saw them going in and out of the hole.
I was all...
(Get it?!?! Because I'm small? Hahaha I'm so hilarious.)
And he was all...
But I just punched the tree and it exploded leaving the bear at my mercy. It's what he gets for stealing my lucky charms!!
I'm a little hyper...
Can you tell?!
...
...If you don't know who that is, YouTube Jenna Marbles NOW!! She's hilarious!!
Well that's all the pictures I have of snow. But I'm going curling tonight so I'll take some more pictures, which will probably include some epic falls. If I get any gross bruises I'll post those too! This is my right knee from the first time I went curling!!!
Sorry for being gross!!!
Much love!! <3
